The doctrine of imputation is the ground in which salvation is rooted. It is often seen as superfluous or splitting hairs, and yet, without it, redemption automatically becomes reliant on our own works and assurance of salvation is suddenly not so sure. J. V. Fesko works through this doctrine looking at its long history in the church, its exegetical foundation, and its dogmatic formulation. In exploring imputed guilt from the First Adam alongside the imputed righteousness from the Second, this volume offers a helpfully well-rounded explanation of the doctrine.

There is much discussion today about how we are to understand the life of Jesus in the Gospels. What was Jesus doing between his birth and death and how does this relate to salvation? This book corrects the Christian tendency to minimize the life of Jesus, explaining why the Gospels include much more than the Passion narratives. Brandon Crowe argues that Jesus is identified in the Gospels as the last Adam whose obedience recapitulates and overcomes the sin of the first Adam. Crowe shows that all four Gospels present Jesus's obedient life as having saving significance.

The author of this study of Romans has served in the ministry for over sixty years. He served as pastor of churches in Mississippi and Alabama. He also served as Missionary Associate for the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention as professor and principle of the Barbados Theological Collage, Barbados, West Indies. This study comes out of over forty years of preaching and teaching from Paul's Book of Romans.Ponder These Questions In Your Heart. As a Christian, do you sometimes feel incomplete, insufficient, insignificant, unworthy and unable to live as you desire? At your best do you feel you are a failure and at your worse you are just no good? Do you feel that the things you do are never satisfying to you and are unworthy of God's approval? Do you sometimes feel the person you are as a husband, wife, mother, father, neighbor, Christian worker is never good enough? Your heart's cry is, "Oh, I wish I could be a better husband, wife, parent, Christian." Are you at times able to say, "I do know some victory, some joy, some peace, but my defeats and despairs are greater than I believe they ought to be? Have you tried and tried but you are always failing, ending up empty? You may at times feel like the fellow who said, "I am sick and tired of being sick and tired." If these express your feeling, then you know what Paul was feeling when he said, "Who can deliver me from this death" (Romans 7:25).If your answer to these question is Yes, this study is especially for you.

What do you believe about souls? There are many very different doctrines taught in the world today concerning souls that are believed to be in all humans. By most a soul is believed to be something that is wholly apart from the person a soul is in; that a soul is something that is that is believed to be complete in its self without the person; it will live after the person it is in is dead; it is believed that a soul will exist forever without the person; it will never be dead; therefore, a soul cannot be resurrected from the dead. It is believed that a soul must live someplace forever, and it will live either in Heaven or Hell even if there is no resurrection. The doctrine of unconditional immortality of a deathless soul being in a person, and that soul leaving that person at the death of the person makes it impossible for Christ to have give His life to save that soul from death; if a soul had immortality it would already have life and could never not have life; all Christ could do is give it a reward or punish it.

This book shows readers the nature of Christian faith by exploring how the gospel was originated, formed, and developed. As author Yoseop Ra demonstrates, the Christian faith began to develop during the conflict between Paul and the Jerusalem apostles, while the redemptive death of Jesus Christ on the cross, the core of the gospel, was made through theological interpretation and spiritual confession. The Origin and Formation of the Gospel offers new interpretations based on a profound analysis of sources. First, author Yoseop Ra shows Q to have been redacted four times. Second, he identifies the original form of the first Christian gospel and separates Paul's seven genuine epistles into sixteen letters. Finally, Ra offers an analysis of four Gospels and other writings to argue that the redemptive role of the cross was introduced as a breakthrough on the part of Paul to overcome the Jerusalem apostles, identifying the kingdom of God as the garden of Eden.

Rarely Addressed Throughout Church History, the doctrine of adoption has seen fresh attention in recent years. Although valuable, contemporary studies have focused primarily on etymological, cultural, and pastoral considerations, giving little to no attention to vital systematic theological concerns. In this groundbreaking work, Professor David Garner examines the function of adoption in Pauline thought: its relationship to the doctrines of Christ, the Holy Spirit, eschatology, and union with Christ, as well as its primary place among the other benefits of salvation. Adoption frames Pauline soteriology, Garner argues, and defines the Trinitarian, familial context of redemption in Christ, the Son of God. Properly understood, adoption's paradigm-shifting implications extend deep and far. Book jacket.

I tell you the truth, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. John 12:24-25 When God created mankind, they were innocent, predisposed to neither good nor evil. By creating the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, God presented mankind with a choice to either live for Him or rebel against Him. However, mankind did not perceive that they could choose until Satan taught Eve the concept of evil. God gave Adam and Eve only one command: Do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. But Adam and Eve disobeyed God. On that day, man's spirit died; the power of sin entered the world; the sinful nature sprang into existence; and mankind was banished into Satan's kingdom. This day was the darkest day in human history. In the Old Testament, God promised mankind a new covenant. This new covenant has given mankind a second opportunity to choose to live for God. If a person will obey God, then God will forgive his sins, give him a new spirit and a new heart, and place within him His Holy Spirit. Because mankind lost their innocence, they need to die to the seven areas of sinful control to become Christians. Hence, they must crucify their "I" with Christ: dying to the law, to the basic principles of this world, to the power of sin, to their sinful nature, to their soul's self-centeredness, and to the world. Many Christians are not aware that they must die to live the new life in Christ. Life By Death examines why man is spiritually dead, how Christians die to the seven areas of sinful control, and what Christians experience in Christ. Keywords: Holiness, Victory, Brokenness, Wholeness, Hope, Healing, Rebirth, Surrender, Born-Again, And Sinful-Nature.
